Modeling is a tricky vocation and even the most experienced in the trade requires direction from the photographer. Knowing the basics is however called for in order to make the photographers job less frustrating.

Different Modelling Poses

There are many basic modeling photography poses used during photo shoots. These basic poses are slightly modified and personalized by the model to create stunning new effects. The photographer's skill and angles of shooting can make basic poses appear completely unique. Some of the basic poses include:

- Leaning against objects.
- Headshots with hands on the chin
- Side shots with the body propped up with the forearm.

Casual Seated Pose: The casual seated pose expresses an easy-going attitude by the model. It can be used to promote casual attire for both children and adults. The model is normally seated with the back leg bent at the knees. The front leg can be extended slightly and one hand placed on the knees. You must keep the back straight slightly curved for this pose.

You may argue that posing makes someone appear unnatural in a photo. This may be true but why is it that models appear so gorgeous in magazines or billboards? It is because they have mastered modeling photography poses. They do not simply stand and smile at the camera. They take time to perfect every pose and personalize it for different shoots.
